What if water repellency wasn't a finish, but a feature?

What if your fabric could repel water without relying on conventional water-repellent treatments?

Imagine a backpack that faces years of unpredictable weather. A travel bag exposed to rain, splashes and rough handling. Outdoor equipment that needs to perform, whatever the conditions.

For decades, the textile industry has relied on surface treatments to make fabrics water-repellent. These treatments can perform well, but their effectiveness may diminish through wear, abrasion and repeated use.

But what if we could rethink water repellency altogether?
What if water repellency came from within? Meet Rivercyclon® Outdoor, Travel & Sports Fabrics.

Instead of relying on an additional water-repellent finish, Rivercyclon® takes a fundamentally different approach.
Its inherent water repellency (IDWR) is built into the material itself.
The secret lies in polypropylene (PP), a polymer that is naturally hydrophobic. Water doesn't readily wet the material, allowing droplets to bead up and roll off rather than being absorbed by the fibres.
And because this property is inherent to the material, it isn't dependent on a conventional surface-applied DWR treatment.

Not just water repellency applied to a fabric. Water repellency designed into it.
What if protection didn't require forever chemicals?

Traditionally, some high-performance water-repellent finishes have relied on PFAS, a group of persistent chemicals increasingly scrutinised for their environmental impact.

Rivercyclon® takes another route.

Its inherent water repellency is 100% PFAS-free, demonstrating that effective protection against water doesn't have to depend on these substances.

And there's more.
Rivercyclon® is built around a mono-material polypropylene concept, named The Circular Fabrics Platform, designed to making the fabric fully recyclable. Because a better material shouldn't only perform during its lifetime. We should also consider what happens afterwards.

What if durability and responsibility went hand in hand?
For outdoor, travel and sports brands, reliable performance is not optional. Neither should responsible material choices be.

By incorporating water repellency into the material itself, Rivercyclon® offers a different starting point for developing products built for demanding environments.

Think backpacks, travel luggage, sports bags and outdoor equipment. Products designed to go further, last longer and face the elements with confidence.
No unnecessary compromises. No conventional DWR finish required to create the material's inherent hydrophobic behaviour.

What if this changed the way we design outdoor products?
Innovation doesn't always mean adding another layer, another chemical or another treatment. Sometimes, the biggest breakthrough comes from asking whether we needed them in the first place.

At Rivertex®, we believe the future of technical fabrics starts by challenging the way things have always been done.
Rivercyclon® is our answer. Make the Switch
